SES/PSC Services
Supplemental Educational Services and Public School Choice
 

     No Child Left Behind (NCLB) regulations require that school divisions offer Public School Choice (PSC) and Supplemental Educational Services (SES) to students enrolled in a Title I school that is targeted for School Improvement when the school has not made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in reading or in mathematics for two or more consecutive years on the state standards.

Supplemental Educational Services (SES)

     Supplemental Educational Services are additional academic services, such as tutoring and remediation, offered outside of the regular school hours.  SES, which typically cover reading, language arts and math are provided free to students.
 

     Essex County Public Schools will mail letters to parents of all eligible students.  Parents may then register their child for the free after-school tutoring sessions.  The tutors will be employees of private companies which have been approved as providers by the Virginia Department of Education.

Public School Choice (PSC)
