Welcome!
Our library is on a six day schedule and when your child’s class comes for their lesson they will also be checking out library books. The next time they return for a lesson, their library books will be due. Lessons will include reading exciting stories related to SOL’s, researching, learning how to use the library and checking out interesting books.
When your child brings his/her books home there are many things that you can do to help him/her become a better reader. Find a special space in your home to have for a reading area. You can read to your child and ask questions. You can ask questions before they read – “What do you think this book will be about?” You can ask questions during the story – “What do you think will happen now?” You can ask questions after the story – “What was your favorite part of the book?” Engaging in reading activities together will provide memorable experiences as well as a lifelong appreciation for reading. We want TES students to develop relationships with books so that they can read easily and frequently whether it’s for school or pleasure.
