ECPS welcomed Governor Abigail Spanberger and the Secretary of Education at JCIS today!! They both took time to greet staff, spend quality time in a Q&A with a group of teachers, and enjoyed time answering questions and talking to students in numerous classrooms! The cheerleaders and SCA officers were highlights of this visit, and it was led by Principal Dr. Dana Hawes and Interim Superintendent Mrs. Pam Bell! Local news media and members of the local sheriff's department and police were inspired to support this effort. What a memorable day for JCIS students and for ECPS!
Interim Superintendent, Mrs. Pam Bell, facilitated and launched the “All In for Essex” collaboration with Essex County Public Schools and the Essex Rotary on Thursday, August 13th. The collaboration involves supporting ECPS students through college/career awareness events, increasing community pride/connection/visibility of ECPS in local businesses, recognizing and incentivizing students/staff, and more!! With all three ECPS principals present, at least one new initiative was launched at each school through the Rotary’s commitment! 🎉
The Essex County School Board will be holding a Special Called meeting on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.. in the Essex County School Board Office Complex.
We love our children in ECPS!!!! Team members were at Walmart to "Fill the Bus" to support our students!! Such a fun group and such a caring community!! Thanks Primus Bank for partnering with Essex County Public Schools!!
Convocation kicked off with such spirit yesterday! Staff walked the red carpet, enjoyed awesome food, participated in dance contests, schools/depts competed for the "best skit", cheerleaders brought the energy, the student panel was the heart of the day, and Supt. Bell set the tone with the message "Lead. Love. Learn!", and the ECPS teams are ready for our students!! This will be their best year yet!

Smile Virginia Mobile Dentists Coming to ECPS Mar. 20!
Mark your calendars for March 20! The Smile Virginia Mobile Dentists will be on-site at Essex High School, providing services for ECPS scholars who are pre-registered.
ESSENTIALS TO KNOW:
What: Dental services for ECPS scholars
• Scholars covered by Medicaid or Virginia FAMIS will receive dental services at no cost.
• Private insurance and self-pay options will also be available.
When: Mar. 20, during school hours. Pre-registration is required.
Where: Essex High School, 833 High School Circle, Tappahannock
IMPORTANT EXTRAS (Please Read!):
• Park in the visitor parking lot near the commons entrance.
• Enter through the main office. Check-in is required.
• A photo ID is required for entry into the school.
• Parent/guardian must remain on-site the entire time. No drop-offs.
• Pre-registration is MANDATORY to receive services. No exceptions. Register before Mar. 20; registration on the "day of" will NOT be available. Only pre-registered students will be eligible for services.
Families unable to register online can complete a paper registration form in the main office of Essex High School before Mar. 20.
• Transportation for TES and JCIS scholars to and from the high school will need to be provided by families
