Superintendent Bell challenged all schools to celebrate students who made a "Fast Start to their year: 1 or less absences, 0 referrals, and strong academic effort! Half of the EHS student body met the criteria and Principal Roane, AP Scott, & Counselor Jones put on an awesome event with relay games, bounce house, line dancing, staff competitions, food and fun! Seeing kids play and enjoy themselves as a reward for excellence was a highlight of the week! Supt Bell joined in on the fun and dancing, too! 🤣💜💛

What a wonderful time with families at the TES Family Literacy night! The activities were engaging, parents and children practiced together, and teachers' were glowing with pride and excitement! Great job, TES team, for the extra efforts witnessed last night!

Each student belongs in ECPS...is important to each day's success...and is missed when absent!💜🎉💛
A special thanks goes out to all ECPS staff, students, and families...and our Essex County Sheriff's Dept , Police Dept, EMS Dept, and VA State Police for ensuring the safety of our students and staff today in light of school threats. Today was truly an example of being "All In for Essex!" We are blessed to have such collaboration! 💜💛
Early Dismissal Today at 10:30 am 9/11/2026
All after-school activities have been canceled.
Greetings ECPS Families, Students, and Staff;
In light of recent threats today to our schools, ECPS will be dismissing at 10:30 am today. We are being advised by our local and state authorities to err on the side of caution, and safety is our number one priority.
If parents can be ready to receive students at home and avoid the congestion at schools, that would be greatly appreciated so that we can move buses out as soon as possible. They will dismiss in their usual fashion (first, second, and third wave). Staff will be on standby until we are sure that students have reached home. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we know that all parents want kids safe.
We will be in touch with families throughout the day until our students reach home and/of have been picked up. Thanks for your cooperation and teamwork to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
ECPS recognizes September as Suicide Prevention Month. Please know the signs. It might save a life. 🙏🏽💜💛
